Shuwen Chai

I am a fourth year PhD student in the CS Theory Group at Northwestern University, advised by Miklós Z. Rácz. Prior to this, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Renmin University of China in 2022.

My main research interest lies in the intersection of Theoretical Computer Science, Statistics, and Probability. One line of my research concerns statistical inference and algorithms on random graphs: establishing efficient algorithms when problems are information-theoretically solvable, establishing statistical-computational gaps, etc. I work on various models such as correlated stochastic block models and preferential attachment block model. The other line of my research studies robust inference on noisy, complex data, including Gaussian mean-shift contamination model and language model watermarks.
